For your business

Is your money at ClearBank?

Tide, Emoni and other accounts on Finzil run on ClearBank. What that means depends on how the app uses it:

  • Deposit or e-money

With Embedded Banking, as at Tide, your account is a ClearBank deposit and eligible balances are FSCS-protected up to £120,000. With a safeguarding account, as at Emoni, it is e-money: kept apart, but not a deposit.

  • One limit per bank

The FSCS limit applies once per depositor across everything held at ClearBank, including money held through different apps.

  • Keep a second account

Two apps on the same partner can fail together. A second account issued by a different institution keeps salaries and suppliers paid.
